Hello, bonjour, and welcome to CJRO News on CJRO Radio. I’m Candice Vetter, reporting from Embrun.

First a reminder that CJRO News is only being produced once every two weeks for the summer. We will be back to weekly in September.

Don’t forget that Magladry Road between Navan and Sarsfield is closed until August 30th. Traffic is being detoured to Watson Road.

Both Russell and Navan Fairs report great attendance and very successful events. It was great to see people out at the midway and watching the shows and events in Russell on the Saturday of the its fair. Well done to both groups for excellent organization.

South Mountain, Vankleek Hill and Chesterville Fairs are all coming up in August, Spencerville is in early September, and Metcalfe will be the last weekend in September.

On September 10th the Russell Agricultural Society presents the RCMP Musical Ride at the fairgrounds in the village of Russell. Tickets will be available online soon.

The Eastern Ontario Book Fair will take place Saturday, September 17th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at École St. Viateur in Limoges. It is organized by two authors from Limoges, Valérie Saad and Marie-Claude Dubé. Independent Franco-Ontarian and Quebec authors such as Aïsha Cloutier, Suzie Champagne, Christine Delorme, Marc-Antoine Gagnier, Liliane Gratton, Marc Scott and others will be there.

Russell Kin Club’s Catch the Ace jackpot is now estimated at over $38,000, and the weekly prize is estimated over $3,000. Tickets are $10 and are available online and at many retail locations in the local area.

The Great Canadian #SplashForKids has officially started, running until August 31st. #SplashForKids is an annual virtual fundraising challenge organized by The Sunshine Foundation of Canada. The event goal for this year is $35,000. The Sunshine Foundation of Canada changes the lives of children living with severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses by making their dreams come true.
