Rene's Corner, situated at the corner of Anderson Road and Piperville Road, was recently sold to new owners. Monique Lacasse and her late husband René owned and operated the store for over 40 years. Monique and her daughter Judith expressed thanks to the community and local residents for their support and loyalty. The new owner will be taking over the store on November 1st.





On September 10th the Russell Agricultural Society presents the RCMP Musical Ride at the fairgrounds in the village of Russell. Also performing will be the Capital Cowgirls Drill Team and the Canadian Canine Training Academy. Tickets are on sale at Russell Foodland, Home Hardware stores in Russell and Embrun, Giant Tiger in Embrun and online at Eventbrite.ca. The show is $10 for adults, $5 for youth and free for children under five.


Rogers Cable recently confirmed that 169 more homes have high speed internet service via Phase 1 of the new fiber optic network which was installed over the past six months in Carlsbad Springs, along several roads. Phase 2 will add more homes and the project should be completed in three months. Rogers will provide fiber to the home service to sections of Farmers' Way - north of Russell Road, Russell Road (past the Leitrim road area), Carlsbad Lane (east of Russell Road) and some other locations, such as Hall Road, which have no high speed internet service.




In a media release the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital stated it had received notification that three additional criminal charges were brought against a former physician at HGH, Dr. Brian Nadler. These charges relate to the suspicious deaths of three patients under his care. HGH is fully collaborating with the investigation. The hospital expressed its immediate concern for the families of the deceased patients. It said they are committed to providing the bereaved families with the appropriate care and support. All services and programs remain fully operational.

The 2021 Carlsbad Springs Community Association AGM will be held in person at the Carlsbad Springs Community Centre on September 15th at 7 p.m. Carlsbad Springs residents are invited to participate. Election to elect a new President, Secretary and three Directors will take place. If you are interested in a position please email info@carlsbadsprings.ca .


Russell Kin Club’s Catch the Ace jackpot is climbing and now estimated at over $42,000, and the weekly prize is estimated over $3,000. Tickets are $10 and are available online and at many retail locations in the local area.
