Don’t forget to try to see the new comet. It is visible with binoculars and may brighten enough to be seen with the naked eye in the next week or so. It is in the north sky most of the night between the Big Dipper and Little Dipper. Upcoming winter carnivals are:
The Embrun Carnaval d’hiver is finishing up this week until January 29th with a variety of activities including a Kids Movie Night, Jojo Show, Pool Tournament, Pancake Bar, Hockey Tournament, Paint Night, Pub Night, Dances for Kindergarten to Grade 8 students, the firefighters' brunch and free public skating with Bonhomme Carnaval.
The Carlsbad Springs carnival starts this Friday, January 27th with a play group in the morning. Friday evening a beans, macaroni and hot dog supper follows starting at 5 p.m., followed by a bar and Radio Bingo "live" at the community centre at 7 p.m. Or play at home while listening to CJRO on 107.7 or 107.9 FM. The two Carlsbad Springs corner stores, Carlsbad Variety and René's Corner, sell cards. So does Lucie Régimbald. Reach her at 613-821-3431 or email regimbalde178@rogers.com. Cards and dabbers will also be sold at the community center. On Saturday, January 28th there are a whole slate of activities at the centre, and a virtual auction. The Sarsfield carnival is Saturday January 28th starting at 1 p.m. There will be a curling, skating and tobogganing, a community dinner, a chili and dessert contest, and at 8 p.m. a trivia night with music, for adults only. Everything will take place at the Sarsfield Community Centre. More information is available at info@sarsfield.org.
The Marionville Winter Carnival will be February 3rd to 5th. Organizers are seeking high school students looking for volunteer hours to help out. Watch the Marionville Facebook page for more information as it becomes available.
Fête Frissons is presented by Shenkman Arts Centre Presents with the Heart of Orléans BIA on February 11th. and has a long list of bilingual, family friendly activities. The bilingual free event offers performances, artmaking, workshops, storytelling, dancing and outdoor fun in the snow. See the ShenkmanArts Facebook page for a full schedule.
In Limoges, this Friday, January 27th, the Firefighters Association is hosting supper and Bingo. Supper at 5 p.m. and Bingo at 7 p.m. at the Limoges Community Centre at 205 Limoges Road.
The 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭 is on February 18th at Oasis RV Resort. The festival features outdoor activities and games, children’s show by Monkey Rock Music, brunch, movie night, free skating (weather permitting) and maple taffy.

Russell Kin Club’s Catch the Ace jackpot is now $271,000. The weekly prize is estimated at $13,000. There are 23 envelopes left. Tickets are $10 and are available online and at many local retail locations.
