The Municipality of the Nation has announced its 12.4 million dollar Sports Complex in Limoges is scheduled to open in December. Part-time positions will be advertised in the coming weeks and those interested should watch the municipality's Facebook page. The municipal recreation department will oversee reservations, programming and staffing of the sports complex. Starting in January reservations by associations or individuals will be accepted for both fields for sporting events. Qualified instructors interested in leading a class should contact the recreation department.





An evening with Marc Jade, clairvoyant and medium, is this Saturday, December 3rd at 7 p.m. at the Camille Piché Community Center in Embrun. All profits will be used to finance Phase 2 of the Embrun Train Station renovation project. Go to the Embrun Station's Facebook page for information purchase tickets.




Casselman’s Christmas Festival is this weekend. It starts Thursday, December 1st with hockey, Christmas markets follow on Friday and Saturday, and there will be a street party, bonfire and beer garden on Saturday, followed on Sunday by a visit with Pere Noel, an art exhibition, folk dancing, Circle et boules de neige, and an illuminated Christmas parade in the early evening. CJRO's next bingo radio will be this Friday, December 2nd at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale at Jude's Pizza in Vars, Carlsbad Variety at the corner of Russell and Boundary Roads, and Rene's Corner at the corner of Piperville and Anderson Roads. Cards are $5 each. Proceeds will go to Optimist Clubs in Vars and Carlsbad Springs. The last Bingo before Christmas will be December 16th.


Orléans MP Marie-France Lalonde invites the public to her annual free movie night on Friday, December 9th to watch Super Dog. The film will start at 7 p.m. at Cinéstarz in Orléans. RSVP by calling 613-834-1800 or writing marie-france.lalonde@parl.gc.ca.


The Embrun Christmas Market is coming up December 10th and 11th at the Community Centre. Volunteer high school students will be there to guide young children around to shop without their parents seeing what they buy. For more information contact Lhawley@rogers.com.


The St-Albert Christmas Fair will take place on Saturday, December 10th between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. You will be able to find more than 50 kiosks there that will offer a wide range of products for the Holiday season. For more information, Louise Cayer-Deslauriers at 613-443-0310.


There will be no walking at the Carlsbad Springs Community Centre on December 26th, 2022 or on January 2nd, 2023. The Walking Club resumes on January 4, 2023, , 6020 Piperville Road, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.


The next monthly CSCA meeting will be on Thursday, January 19th, at 7 p.m. at the Carlsbad Springs Community Centre. Everyone is welcome.


Two local book launches are in December. The Marionville Citizens’ Committee is launching the historical book "Marionville... mon village raconté...Aux confins de trois comtés" with author Marcel Clément, December 11th between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Marionville Community Center at 4629 Chemin Grégoire, and on December 10th Mark Van Dusen launches How to Stitch a Chicken at the Russell Branch of the Russell Public Library from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. You can listen to my interview with Mark on Local First at cjroradio.com.


Russell Kin Club’s Catch the Ace is gaining momentum as the jackpot rises. It is now $165,000. The weekly prize is estimated at 8,000. Tickets are $10 and are available online and at many local retail locations.
