CJRO News November 29 to December 5, 2021
Hello, bonjour, and welcome to CJRO News on CJRO Radio. I’m Candice Vetter, reporting from our studio in Embrun.
Radio Bingo is on December 8th and December 22nd, not the first and 15th as originally scheduled. So the next game is not this week but next week. We needed more time to sell the cards and also because of volunteer availability for those dates.
The Rural Issues Collective is hosting an English meeting on Wednesday, November 29th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. regarding transportation, and a French meeting on December 8th from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Meetings are by Zoom. To participate email Carley Scharf at cscharf@nrocrc.org.
The Kin Club of Russell is seeking available (double-vaccinated) volunteers to assist with the Tara Shannon Holiday Benefit Concert for Jonathon Pitre Park, being held this Friday, December 3rd at the Camille Piche Centre in Embrun (Community Centre beside Arena).
The club needs volunteers on Thursday, December 2nd from 2 p.m. on to assist with decorations and set up, and on Friday night, starting at 5 p.m. to assist with door tickets, bar sales, coat check, bar, 50/50, and checking tickets at the door.
For more information about the concert listen to my new interview with Tara Shannon on Local First.
Eco East, the UCPR Coalition for Climate Action, and Hammond Hill are hosting a community assembly about climate change on Sunday, December 12th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Hammond Golf and Country Club at 600 du Golf Road. For more information see the Eco East Facebook page, or go to Eventbrite.ca to sign up.
This is the last week for the Russell Library Used Book Sale at the Russell Branch of the library in Russell Village at 1053 Concession Street. The sale goes until Saturday, December 4th during regular library hours.
Embrun Plaza has space for rent. There are up to 10,000 square feet available in the mall, including office space on the second floor. Call George Diamantakos at 613-720-4597 to find out more.
