CJRO News November 7 to November 13, 2022
Hello, bonjour, and welcome to CJRO News on CJRO Radio. I’m Candice Vetter, reporting from Embrun.
The Province of Ontario has approved Ottawa's new Official Plan with added modifications, including widening the urban boundary and allowing taller buildings along minor corridors of the city. The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing released the official plan approval on November 4th.
Amendments to the Official Plan include expanding the urban boundaries in Kanata, Stittsville, Orleans and the south end of Ottawa. The Tewin Development, a 445-acre area east of Leitrim Road and west of the Village of Carlsbad Springs, remains in the plan. The project is proposed by the Taggart Group and the Algonquins of Ontario. It proposes building 15,000 new homes in a completely rural area, with an estimated 45,000 new residents. The Findlay Creek suburb is also going to be allowed to expand dramatically.
Remembrance Day is this Friday, November 11th. Here is a local list:
