Russell welcoming Scottish curlers
Dear Residents:
Next week, five teams from Scotland will visit the Township of Russell community to compete in
the Strathcona Cup.
The Strathcona Cup is the world’s oldest international men’s curling bonspiel, which only takes
place once every five years. This year, the month-long curling bonspiel brings 60 curlers from
Scotland to play against Canadians in curling centres across Canada.
Our very own Russell Curling Club was chosen to host Game 28 during the 2023 Strathcona
Cup tour. It is an incredible honour for our community to be part of this prestigious international
tradition.
I want to extend a warm welcome our international guests. It is a pleasure to have you here for
this wonderful event.
Good luck to all players on January 31!
Yours truly,
Pierre Leroux
Mayor
