Traffic impacts in Ottawa beginning Thursday, June 11

Ottawa – The following projects will impact Ottawa traffic:

Airport Parkway Stage 2 South Extension project – Airport Parkway between Hunt Club Road and the intersection of Uplands and Lester roads will close on Wednesday, June 17 at 10 pm until Thursday, June 18 at 5 am for construction of the Stage 2 O-Train South Extension. A signed detour will be in place.

Airport Parkway Confederation Heights Bridge Rehabilitation – Airport Parkway southbound between the Heron Road eastbound and westbound ramps, will be reduced to a single lane from Thursday, June 18 until the beginning of July to rehabilitate the Confederation Heights Bridge.

Bank Street canal bridge – The curb lanes in both the northbound and southbound directions on the Bank Street canal bridge have been converted to accommodate pedestrians and all active transportation users. The bridge now has one traffic lane and one lane for pedestrians and active transportation users in each direction, between Wilton Crescent and Echo Drive.

Highway 417 on and off ramps The following on- and off-ramps connected to Highway 417 will close as part of the Nicholas Bridge replacement project:

  • Highway 417 eastbound to Nicholas Street, from Thursday, June 11 at 10 pm until Friday, June 12 at 5 am

  • Riverside Drive northbound to Highway 417 eastbound, from Thursday, June 11 at 10 pm until Friday, June 12 at 5 am and from Thursday June 18 at 10 pm to Friday, June 19 at 5 am

  • Vanier Parkway southbound to Highway 417 eastbound, from Thursday, June 11 at 10 pm until Friday, June 12 at 5 am from Wednesday June 17 at 10 pm to Thursday, June 18 at 5 am

  • Highway 417 eastbound to St Laurent Boulevard from Friday, June 12 at 10 pm until Saturday, June 13 at 5 am

  • St Laurent Boulevard southbound to Highway 417 eastbound from Friday, June 12 at 10 pm until Saturday, June 13 at 5 am

  • St Laurent Boulevard northbound to Highway 417 westbound, from Sunday, June 14 at 10 pm until Monday, June 15 at 1 am

  • Riverside Drive northbound to Highway 417 westbound from Monday, June 15 at 10 pm until Tuesday, June 16 at 1 am and from Tuesday, June 16 at 10 pm to Wednesday, June 17 at 5 am

  • St Laurent Boulevard southbound to Highway 417 westbound from Monday, June 15 at 10 pm until Tuesday, June 16 at 1 am

  • Vanier Parkway southbound to Highway 417 westbound from Tuesday, June 16 at 1 am to 5 am

  • Highway 417 westbound to Vanier Parkway from Tuesday, June 16 at 10 pm to Wednesday, June 17 at 5 am

  • Lees Avenue northbound to Highway 417 eastbound from Tuesday, June 16 at 10 pm to Wednesday, June 17 at 5 am

  • Nicolas Street southbound to Highway 417 eastbound from Tuesday, June 16 at 10 pm to Wednesday, June 17 at 5 am

  • Vanier Parkway southbound to Highway 417 westbound from Wednesday June 17 at 10 pm to Thursday, June 18 at 5 am

  • Highway 417 eastbound to Vanier Parkway from Wednesday June 17 at 10 pm to Thursday, June 18 at 5 am

Metcalfe Street – Metcalfe Street is reduced to one northbound lane between Frank and Lewis streets until late June for watermain and sewer work as part of the Elgin Street Renewal project.

Prince of Wales Drive – Prince of Wales Drive at Barnsdale Road will have intermittent lane closures and lane reductions until November 2020 to build a roundabout. Local, pedestrians and cyclist access will be maintained

Queen Elizabeth Driveway – Queen Elizabeth Driveway between Laurier Avenue West and Fifth Avenue is closed to motorists daily from 8 am to 8 pm until Sunday, June 28. Motorists can cross Queen Elizabeth Driveway from the Pretoria Bridge to access Pretoria Avenue. Access for emergency vehicles and OC Transpo buses will be maintained. This closure is a pilot project managed by the National Capital Commission to facilitate physical distancing. Please visit ncc-ccn.gc.ca for the status of the pilot project.

River Road Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures on River Road between South Gower Boundary Road and Osgoode Main Street daily between 7 am and 10 pm from Monday, June 15 until Friday, August 31 for road resurfacing. Flag personnel will be on site directing traffic and local, pedestrians and cyclist access will be maintained.

Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway – Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway between the Aviation Parkway and St. Joseph Boulevard is closed to motorists on weekends from 8 am to 4 pm until Sunday, June 28. This closure is a pilot project managed by the National Capital Commission to facilitate physical distancing. Please visit ncc-ccn.gc.ca for the status of the pilot project.

Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway The westbound lanes of Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway between Booth Street and Carling Avenue are closed to motorists on weekends from 8 am to 4 pm until Sunday, June 28. This closure is a pilot project managed by the National Capital Commission to facilitate physical distancing. Please visit ncc-ccn.gc.ca for the status of the pilot project.
