CJRO News hopes to follow up with a radio interview on this subject soon.

Response from Lesley Hunter

Good afternoon Candice, Thank you for reaching out about the Enbridge Gas 5371 Boundary Road Pipeline Project. Please see my responses in red below to your questions: 1. The project was initiated at the request of 2 customers. Who were those two customers? As the project did not proceed with those potential customers in 2019, Enbridge Gas is unable to share that information. 2. Why did the customers withdraw their request in October 2020?Enbridge Gas is unable to speak to why the requests were withdrawn. 3. Who is the one customer who has recommenced the project this past May?As stated in the public notice, the project recommencement was initiated by developer and construction company Broccolini who owns the warehouse located at 5371 Boundary Road. Enbridge Gas is pleased to serve potential new demand in the region, which supports continued economic development. 4. Are you responsible for the cutting of the trees all along Boundary Road this past summer?Enbridge Gas did not initiate any tree clearing projects along Boundary Road last summer. 5. Could someone from your office be available for a telephone interview on Monday? An Enbridge Gas spokesperson may be available. Would you please let me know in advance what you plan to ask? We understand and appreciate there has been, and continues to be, interest in obtaining natural gas distribution service in Carlsbad Springs. As a result, Enbridge Gas conducted a preliminary feasibility report after the public information session in 2019 to evaluate options to connect Carlsbad Springs residents to the proposed natural gas distribution system. At that time, the costs were estimated to be $18,400 per household. This project is a customer-driven capital development project and not a community expansion project. The proposed pipeline is a high-pressure transmission pipeline and individual connections are not permitted to this line.
