The Municipality of Casselman is receiving more than $5.6 million for improvements to its Pumping Plant. This funding will be used to increase the capacity of Casselman's main wastewater pumping station. Planned work includes, among other things, a new electrical room, an additional pump, a bypass line, an upgrade to the alum pumping system, and a new 1,880 m pressure line.

Once all work is completed, the pumping station's capacity will be doubled and will be able to serve approximately 1,844 new homes.

The total project cost is estimated at $7.6 million and the municipality is responsible for 23% of the cost, or just over $2 million.

On September 4th, the Ottawa City Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee received the results of a review of processes for determining if traffic signals or all-way stops are needed at rural intersections.

In both cases, while the current processes already take the rural context into account, the proposed enhancements will further refine this approach with more specific factors. This will ensure evaluation is even more aligned with rural conditions.

The process for assessing traffic signals in rural areas will consistently include a speed study, providing more information about the intersection’s operating conditions.
