Embrun, Ontario, 2 avril, 2024 — Le maire Pierre Leroux a officiellement remis sa démission de son poste à la Municipalité de Russell, prenant effet le 19 avril 2024. Il quittera ses fonctions pour assumer le rôle de directeur général à municipalité de La Nation.
Leroux a été un membre dévoué du Conseil de la Municipalité de Russell depuis décembre 2010, où il a été conseiller pendant 4 ans, suivi de plus de 9 ans en tant que maire. Son dévouement et son engagement pour l'amélioration de la Municipalité de Russell ont laissé une marque significative sur notre communauté. Son leadership, sa vision et ses efforts inlassables ont grandement contribué à la croissance et à la prospérité de notre municipalité au fil des ans. L'administration le remercie pour son temps et son engagement au fil des ans et lui souhaite le meilleur dans son nouveau poste.
En raison de sa démission et de la transition à venir, il ne participera pas à la réunion du Conseil du 8 avril par respect au processus et afin d'assurer une transition en douceur. Son attention dans les semaines à venir sera de garantir un transfert d'informations fluide et de respecter les engagements pris précédemment.
« En tant que directeur général, je suis convaincu que notre administration et notre Conseil s'uniront avec un dévouement inébranlable pour continuer à offrir l'excellence dans tous nos services", a déclaré Richard Godin. Son leadership et sa vision ont été essentiels pour guider notre communauté vers l'avenir. D'un point de vue personnel, je tiens à exprimer ma profonde gratitude au maire Leroux. Travailler à ses côtés au cours de la dernière décennie m'a inspiré à adopter un leadership fort et novateur. Merci, Monsieur le Maire ! »
Le maire Leroux a exprimé sa gratitude aux résidents de la Municipalité de Russell, déclarant, « Merci, du fond du cœur, pour l’opportunité de servir, pour votre confiance et pour le soutien qui a rendu mon mandat de maire un chapitre enrichissant de ma vie. La Municipalité de Russell occupe une place spéciale dans mon cœur, un phare de communauté et de connexion. J’avance dans ce nouveau chapitre avec les leçons apprises et les amitiés forgées pendant mon temps en tant que votre maire, éternellement reconnaissant pour le voyage que nous avons partagé. »

Mayor Pierre Leroux has officially submitted his resignation from his position at Russell Township, effective April 19, 2024. He will be stepping down to undertake the role of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) with The Nation Municipality.
Leroux served as a dedicated member of the Russell Township Council since December 2010 where he served as Councillor for 4 years, followed by over 9 years as Mayor. His dedication and commitment to the betterment of Russell Township have left a significant mark on our community. His leadership, vision, and tireless efforts have significantly contributed to the growth and prosperity of our Township over the years. The administration thanks him for his time and commitment over the years and wish him the best in his new position.
In light of his resignation and the upcoming transition, he will not be attending the April 8th Council meeting out of respect for the process and to ensure a seamless transition. His focus in the remaining weeks will be on ensuring a smooth handover of information and to fulfill previous commitments.

Russell Township holds a special place in my heart, a beacon of community and connection. I step forward into this new chapter with the lessons learned and friendships forged during my time as your mayor, forever grateful for the journey we’ve shared.”
