The Piperville municipal transformer station is now live, marking a true milestone for our city as our first substation built using lower-carbon design.

The new hydro facility is situated in Carlsbad Springs on Piperville Road.

This state-of-the-art facility will serve customers in southeast Ottawa with 90 megawatts of power, matching the capacity of our largest existing substation, while achieving a 12.3 per cent reduction in embodied emissions compared to Cambrian substation, our baseline reference. Designed to minimize environmental impact without compromising power quality, this lower-carbon substation secures the critical infrastructure required to power the region’s rapid growth.

Le poste de transformation municipal Piperville est maintenant en fonction. C’est un véritable tournant pour notre ville puisqu’il s’agit du premier poste issu d’une conception à plus faible empreinte carbone.

Cette installation de pointe desservira des clients du sud-est d’Ottawa grâce à une puissance de 90 mégawatts, ce qui correspond à la capacité du poste qui était notre plus grand à ce jour. Pourtant, il affiche une réduction de 12,3 % des émissions de carbone intrinsèque comparativement au poste Cambrian, notre base de référence. Conçu pour réduire au minimum l’impact sur l’environnement sans compromettre la qualité de l’électricité, ce poste à plus faible empreinte carbone constitue l’infrastructure essentielle qui est requise pour alimenter la croissance rapide de la région.

Piperville est plus qu’un atout pour le réseau d’électricité de la région d’Ottawa, c’est un modèle pour l’avenir des infrastructures durables.
