Carlsbad Springs Optimists held 17 activities in fall, winter and spring
Submission from the Carlsbad Springs Optimist Club
We are told that the Carlsbad Springs Optimist Club is the best kept secret in town… we just plug away and try to be as innovative and dynamic as we can. But, although it will look like we are tooting our own horn, we think that it’s important that people, as well as our many sponsors and partners, know what we did with the money raised/given.
Since October 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024, the Club has organized 17 activities for the youth in our community and to fund these activities, we have put on three fundraisers. We reinvested $30,160 back into youth activities in our community. Here is a list of what was offered to our kids:
BAM Percussion show with Halloween candy bags handout
Spring Action Trampoline show
Kevin Smith magic show and Easter chocolate given to each child
Santa Clause made his round again this year delivering a gift per registered child
Science workshops prepared by STEAMPunk Discovery Lab – two workshops offered – one in the Fall and one in the Spring
Crock-a-Doodle ceramic painting
Recreational soccer – with a year-end BBQ and a gift for each child
Bike rodeo – draw of two bicycles, free bells and lights and a lunch
Youth Night sessions from October to April
Roadblock for CHEO
Paint Day for kids
Family Fun Day - 4 families were awarded tickets for the activity of their choice and a gift certificate for a night out at the restaurant
Highland Dance demonstration for kids
Post secondary scholarship of $2000
Three donations to schools attended by the children in our community : St-Mary Fun Fair (Bank/Mitch Owens), St Mark Trivia Night (high school) and Saint-Guillaume in Vars to help with the purchase of a play structure.
Our three fundraisers: Our Winter Carnival – Recycling Campaign and Bottle Drive and our Three-pitch mixed ball tournament.
July and August will be quiet – we need to brainstorm for the year starting October 2024. But most of all, please feel free to drop off a line and suggest some activities.
