A group of students from Hong Kong will visit Russell from April 27 to May 9, 2025. During their stay, they will study at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School and stay with local families. The goal of this visit is to enrich the cultural and linguistic learning of the students. For this reason, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School was chosen for its ESL (English as a Second Language) programs, which support their academic learning.
Brian St-Pierre will be performing on June 7, 2025, at the Salle Richelieu at l’École secondaire catholique de Casselman. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

Seven of the eight candidates for Ottawa City Council in Ward 20 will take part in a moderated discussion with the public on May 7, 2025, at the Carlsbad Springs Community Center. If you have any questions, send an email to csca.events.mgmt@gmail.com.
The Township of Russell’s Recreation Complex construction is progressing well and remains on schedule. Foundations, interior structures, and underground piping for stormwater and sanitary systems are advancing steadily. The pool change area and community hall are nearly complete, and work has started on the masonry and structural steel for the arenas. Construction of Rink #3 is underway, with crews soon moving on to the roof and exterior walls.

Magician Éric Leclerc will present his show "MYSTÉRIC Removes His Mask" on April 26, 2025, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Carlsbad Springs Community Center. Through magic, Mystéric explores themes such as conflict resolution, emotions, and bullying, offering strategies to help students approach challenges positively. Please note that this show is aimed at but not limited to children aged 7 to 12 years old.

The Carlsbad Springs Optimist Club’s annual CHEO roadblock fundraiser will take place on Saturday, May 3, from 7 a.m. to noon. The club’s goal is to raise $5,000. All funds will be donated to CHEO to support research on childhood cancer. Lucie Régimbald is looking for volunteers to help collect donations at the Russell/Boundary and Piperville/Anderson intersections. This year, two Interac machines will be available at the Russell/Boundary intersection for debit card donations. Cash donations will also be accepted.
Here are some important dates to remember for events taking place in Russell later this year. In May, Russell Ladies Night will be held on May 2, followed by the Chicken BBQ Dinner on May 31. The Russell Community Market will take place on June 8, July 13, August 10, September 14, and October 12. Canada Day celebrations will begin on June 30 at the Russell Fairgrounds and continue on July 1 at the same location. The Russell Fair will be held from August 14 to 17. On September 13, the Autumn in the Country Arts Festival will also take place at the Fairgrounds. Finally, on December 6, it will be the Russell Christmas Market.

The Russell Township Pride Flag Raising Ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Town Hall in Embrun. Local dignitaries, students, and musicians from the area will participate in the event. There will be prizes to be won and other activities.
