The Township of Russell is once again inviting local photographers to showcase their talent at the 2025 Photo Expo. This year’s theme, “Up Close and Personal,” encourages participants to submit their finest images, all captured within the municipality’s borders. An independent jury will select four winning photographs, which will be printed in large format and displayed along the recreational trail, allowing the public to enjoy the artistry up close. Photographers have until August 25 to submit their images. The outdoor exhibition will open on September 13.
Significant progress has been made on the Township of Russell’s new recreation complex in recent weeks. The leisure pool walls are complete, and piping installation is underway, while structural steel and roofing work continue in the arenas. Masonry and siding crews have finished key exterior sections, and concrete slabs have been poured inside all three rinks. Mechanical and electrical rough-ins are ongoing, and stormwater and watermain work has advanced in the new parking lot and surrounding areas.

The Union culturelle des Franco-Ontariennes Cercle d’Embrun is inviting the public to an evening of bingo on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Camille Piché Community Centre in Embrun. The cost is $25 for 12 bingo cards. For more information or to purchase tickets in advance, please contact Sylvie Gravelle at 613-620-0527.
The United Counties of Prescott and Russell, in collaboration with the Township of Russell, will be leading a project to install new traffic lights, turning lanes, pedestrian crossings, and guardrail for added safety at the intersection of Castor Street, Eadie Road, and Wade Road.
Work is scheduled to begin August 27, 2025, with completion expected during the fall 2025. Construction will generally take place during regular working hours, and every effort will be made to minimize disruption to residents and local traffic.
For any questions or updates regarding the project, residents can reach out to the United Counties of Prescott and Russell’s project representative, Nicolas Simard, at nsimard@prescott-russell.on.ca.
The Richelieu Club is hosting its annual golf tournament on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Casselview Golf Club in Casselman. The event, which attracts players and local businesses each year, is currently seeking sponsors. Organizers offer several sponsorship packages, each providing different levels of visibility. More details about the event are available on the CJRO website.
CJRO Radio has submitted an application to the CRTC to increase its power and change its FM frequency from 107.9 FM to 96.3 FM in Casselman. If approved by the CRTC, CJRO Radio's antenna will be installed on the water tower in the municipality of Casselman. This change will allow CJRO Radio to better serve the village of Casselman and the surrounding area with its bilingual community programming. This change was necessary because the antenna's location was difficult to access due to a change in the site's lease. CJRO Radio will invest more than $10,000 to install a new antenna and a new transmitter that will broadcast at a power of 50 watts instead of the current 2 watts in the village.
