Hello, this is Rose Grzela and this is this week's news on CJRO Radio.

Colette Lacroix-Velthuis is one of eleven candidates vying for the Ward 20 Osgoode councillor seat on Ottawa City Council. This by-election was triggered by the resignation of George Darouze, who was elected as a Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP).
Among the key issues for Lacroix-Velthuis is the Tewin development project. She views it as a unique opportunity to increase housing and infrastructure in the ward but stresses that it must not come at the expense of current residents. She also underscores the need for continuous dialogue with the community throughout the process.

Another candidate, Isabelle Skalski, shares a more cautious stance on the Tewin project. While she sees potential benefits for the ward, she remains neutral, neither fully supporting nor opposing the development, and wants to carefully assess what the project will ultimately involve.
The by-election for the Ward 20 Osgoode seat is scheduled for June 16, 2025. This interview is part of an ongoing series, and I will continue to reach out to other candidates to share their perspectives with our listeners as they become available.
