Hello, this is Rose Grzela and this is this week's news on CJRO Radio.

The three branches of The Nation's public library, which were expected to reopen to the public in April, have yet to reopen their doors. Their closure, originally announced in December for a period of three months, followed the resignation of Executive Director Jeanne Leroux. She stepped down in response to a major budget cut, from $600,000 to $100,000 for 2025. Since then, a new team of volunteers has been put in place in an effort to restore library services. The reopening date for The Nation’s three library branches has not yet been determined.
The annual recycling campaign organized by the Carlsbad Springs Optimist Club will take place on May 24, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Center. Organizer Lucie Régimbald says she already has several volunteers, but anyone able to spare an hour or two is welcome to help. For more information, contact her at 613-698-3431.

The $3.6 million project is partially funded by the Canada Community Building Fund, a program that supports infrastructure projects. The work is expected to be completed by the end of fall 2025.
